Overview: A mortgage insurance company is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join the team on a 6 month contract with the potential to go full time. This position is 100% REMOTE but must work EST hours.
Job Summary:
A DevOps Engineer works with application developers, release management, the infrastructure IT team and business staff to oversee the code release, combining an understanding of both engineering and coding. From creating and implementing software to analyzing data to improve existing applications, a DevOps Engineer increases productivity in the workplace. They understand the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) and have a clear understanding of various automation tools for developing build and deploy pipelines (CI/CD Pipelines). A DevOps Engineer will establish and employ CI (Continuous Integration) tools such as Jenkins, Git, Nexus and Configuration Management Automation tools such as Chef to improve delivery speeds and efficiency. They will also be proficient with Cloud environments (AWS) and have strong experience programming in Ruby, PowerShell or shell scripts.
Responsibilities:
Creating and implementing software to analyzing data to improve existing applications
Understand the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) and have a clear understanding of various automation tools for developing build and deploy pipelines (CI/CD Pipelines)
Establish and employ CI (Continuous Integration) tools such as Jenkins, Git, Nexus and Configuration Management Automation tools such as Chef to improve delivery speeds and efficiency.
Work with Cloud environments (AWS)
Program in Ruby, PowerShell or shell scripts
Required Skills and Experience:
3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer
Experience developing and helping document DevOps tools & best practices
Experience mastering CI/CD Pipeline (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery) and Automation of the environments (Cloud and OnPrem)
Scripting: Ruby, Shell (Linux - Bash) or PowerShell (Windows)
Level 2 support, managing tickets from various IT and business units
Cloud Environment (AWS), CloudFormation Template and Terraform
Chef automation
DevOps tools chain - GitLab, Nexus and Jenkin
Must haves:
Bachelor’s degree required
Must have a strong understanding of the SDLC
Must have Cloud experience with AWS
Previous experience gathering use cases.
Strong experience with Automation tools to build out CI/CD pipelines- mainly using Chef
Knowledge of IAC and Terraform in Cloud environments
Strong experience with Ruby, Powershell or Shell scripting
Nice to have industry experience- Mortgage or Finance industry
