Overview:

Our client, a innovative Health Tech Industry based client is seeking an experienced Data Catalog Consultant to drive project delivery and successful outcomes.

This position is long term contract and 100% REMOTE.

Summary:
Our client is seeking a skilled Data Catalog Consultant to join their team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with metadata, data governance, and cataloging best practices. This role requires a proactive, problem-solving individual who can work directly with customers to assess, analyze, and optimize their data catalog environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with customers to implement and optimize data catalog software, ensuring best practices in metadata management and governance.
  • Support at least one of the following catalog software packages: Collibra (preferred), Alation, Atlan, Data.World, Informatica.
  • Evaluate, compare, and resolve metadata discrepancies between customer data and internal sources using catalog software and analytical tools like Excel.
  • Assist customers in identifying gaps in their data catalog implementation and recommend solutions.
  • Lead discussions with stakeholders to assess their current state, define their desired state, and develop an actionable roadmap for improvement.
  • Provide hands-on support in resolving metadata issues and ensuring alignment with governance policies.
  • Work independently and proactively engage with customers to drive outcomes and address challenges.

Required Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of experience in data governance and metadata management.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one data catalog tool (Collibra preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills to compare and assess metadata quality, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to conduct discussions with customers, gather requirements, and translate them into actionable steps.
  • Self-motivated "doer" who is comfortable working directly with customers to solve problems.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel for metadata analysis and comparison.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in healthcare, life sciences, or related industries.
  • Prior consulting experience with data catalog implementation and governance best practices.
