Job Title: Lead App Developer
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Application Developer to join our client and play a pivotal role in supporting their large-scale data warehouse operations. This hybrid, contract-to-hire position based in Philadelphia, PA (onsite Tuesday–Thursday) focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining SQL- and ETL-based solutions to ensure data integrity, optimize performance, and support both stabilization efforts and new initiatives.
Work Schedule:
• Monday through Friday, standard business hours
• Onsite Tuesday–Thursday, remote Monday and Friday
Key Responsibilities of the Lead Application Developer:
• Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT processes to source, transform, and integrate data from multiple systems into the data warehouse environment
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including developers, testers, and infrastructure teams—to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Lead process oversight for data sourcing and job execution, including scheduling and monitoring thousands of daily jobs
• Identify and implement performance tuning opportunities to optimize system efficiency
• Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture, security policies, and development standards
• Provide technical guidance and recommend best practices for working with offshore development and testing teams
• Support both stabilization/maintenance projects and moderate new initiatives within an Agile framework
• Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and backlog refinement sessions
Qualifications and Skills for the Lead Application Developer:
• 10+ years of experience developing solutions in large, mature data warehouse environments (minimum 8 years required)
• Advanced SQL development expertise and strong ETL/ELT design skills
• Proficiency with at least one major RDBMS (Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.)
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform’s BigQuery strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and job scheduling tools
• Proven ability to work with offshore teams and coordinate large-scale data operations
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Healthcare claims data experience a plus but not required
