Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer
 

Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our client to manage and modernize their on-prem enterprise environment while helping plan and execute their transition to the cloud. This hybrid, direct-hire position based in Statesville, NC, focuses on maintaining and upgrading Nutanix and VMware infrastructure, supporting disaster-recovery readiness, and contributing to a long-term Azure migration roadmap. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise with virtualization platforms, strong problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset suited for a mid-sized IT team with opportunities for future leadership growth.
 

Work Schedule:
• Monday through Friday, standard business hours (hybrid schedule with in-office presence required two days per week) Monday and Thursday
 

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Infrastructure Engineer:
• Manage and optimize on-prem Nutanix and VMware environments, including upgrades, patching, and performance monitoring.
• Support backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure high availability and compliance.
• Participate in planning and early implementation of the organization’s Azure cloud migration roadmap (VDI and future workloads).
• Collaborate with vendors to evaluate license renewals, contracts, and modernization opportunities.
• Administer and support Microsoft O365, Active Directory, Entra ID, and SharePoint environments (approximately 30% of workload).
• Partner with IT leadership on budgeting, vendor management, and strategic infrastructure initiatives.
• Mentor junior IT staff and collaborate cross-functionally to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies in virtualization and cloud infrastructure to drive continuous improvement.
 

Qualifications and Skills for the Senior Infrastructure Engineer:
• 5–10 years supporting enterprise on-prem infrastructure in Nutanix and/or VMware environments.
• Proven experience with system upgrades, patching, and disaster-recovery planning.
• Exposure to Azure environments and interest in hybrid cloud migration projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration, Active Directory, Entra ID, and SharePoint.
• Strong understanding of enterprise virtualization and storage management.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to collaborate across teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (relevant certifications and experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
• AZ-900 certification preferred; Nutanix certification a plus.
