Job Title: Cloud Security Engineer
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking an Cloud Security Engineer to join our client to drive secure cloud adoption and strengthen enterprise cloud defenses. In this role, you will enhance cloud security controls, partner with cross-functional teams, and support ongoing security initiatives tied to modernization and cloud transformation efforts. You’ll play a key part in optimizing cloud tooling, maturing security processes, and ensuring alignment with industry frameworks. This is a full-time, hybrid contract role based in Philadelphia, PA.
Compensation:
$80–$82/hour

Key Responsibilities of the Cloud Security Engineer:
Cloud Security Engineering & Architecture
Design, implement, and refine cloud security controls across multi-cloud environments, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and external frameworks (including NIST, CIS, HIPAA, and other leading standards).
Security Operations, Monitoring & Incident Preparedness
Validate alerts, assess escalations, improve detection capabilities with MSP partners, and contribute to incident response planning through runbooks, tabletop exercises, and system hardening guidance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Governance Support
Partner with infrastructure, DevSecOps, compliance, and application teams to embed security best practices into cloud-native designs, support audits, and guide risk mitigation activities.
Tooling Optimization & Automation
Enhance cloud security tooling, support automation initiatives (e.g., Terraform, PowerShell), and contribute to secure configuration management and continuous improvement of security technologies.
Leadership, Mentorship & Subject Matter Expertise
Serve as a senior technical resource by advising on complex problems, mentoring junior staff, contributing to architectural strategies, and shaping long-term cloud/security service line direction.
Qualifications and Skills for the Cloud Security Engineer:
Extensive experience securing multi-cloud environments, including identity and access management, cloud governance, and cloud-native security technologies.
Hands-on background in security engineering, systems integration, and cloud architectures (Azure experience is especially valuable).
Proficiency with tools such as EDR, SIEM platforms, CSPM, IAM solutions, NGFWs, NAC, encryption protocols, and vulnerability management technologies.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, PCI, NIST, ISO), risk management practices, automation pipelines, and enterprise-level security controls.
Preferred candidates bring technical certifications (e.g., Security+, CCSP, Azure Security Engineer, GSEC), experience with healthcare or research environments, and comfort advising non-technical stakeholders.
